Fletcher Dazzles In First Start, AUM Falls To Florida Tech 3-1

Montgomery, Ala. – On a night where netminder Dejon Fletcher earned her first start of the season, the Auburn University at Montgomery women's soccer team dropped a home contest to the Florida Tech Panthers on Thursday night 3-1.

Game Notes
- AUM slides to 0-4 on the season, while Florida Tech improves their record to 2-2-1.
- The Warhawks have now extended their streak to five consecutive games without being shutout.
- Maria Munoz tallied two goals for the Panthers, including the game-winning goal in the 55 minute'.

Standout Performers
- Ruby Mendez led the Warhawks with seven shots, putting three on goal.
- Fletcher was able to stop nine Panther shots in the losing effort.
- 11 Different players for Florida Tech registered at least on shot in the contest.

How it Happened
- The first 13 minutes of the game saw little action between the two teams. Both sides were able to record just one shot on goal, with most of the game early on was played in the midfield.
- In the 14' minute, the Warhawks thought they had broken the scoreless tie when Milian Mollison took a Mayson Jaindl rebound and placed it in the back of the net. However, the play was deemed offside by the head referee.
- 11 minutes later in the 25', Florida Tech recorded the game's first goal. Munoz played a ball from the right side of the penalty area to the opposite side of the pitch and to the feet of Mariana Mazzocca.
- The Panthers would continue their pressure for the next 10 minutes of the match and eventually earned a penalty kick after Torai Slaughter took down a Florida Tech forward. Jeeda Al-Naber stepped up to take the kick but it was shut down by the Warhawk keeper to keep the score at 1-0.
- Seven minutes later Fletcher made another incredible stop on a ball labeled for the upper right of the net. The AUM goaltender made a full extension save on Bryson Boyer to keep the deficit at one heading into the half.
- The Panthers would add to their 1-0 lead in the 55' minute of the contest when Munoz slotted a ball past Fletcher and into the upper right of the net to bring the lead to 2-0.
- AUM would get some luck just three minutes later when Mollison was taken down in the box resulting in a Warhawk penalty shot. Mendez took the PK, and sent a ball past the Panthers' keeper to net her fourth goal of the season.
- The momentum of the game seemingly changed in the 68' minute when the Florida Tech goalie came out of her box to challenge Jaindl on a breakaway. Instead, the Panther goalie took out the legs of Jaindl and was sent off via a red card.
- Despite playing a man down, Florida Tech was able to put the game on ice in the 81' minute when Munoz netted her second goal of the season on a shot that hit off the right post and into the back of the net.
