MONTGOMERY, Ala.– The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team matched its program record for league victories in a season with a 3-1 victory over Gulf South Conference foe Mississippi College on Saturday afternoon, as freshman
Giada Pais-Marden recorded a career-high 20 kills in the contest to help lead the Warhawks to victory.
NOTES
- The Warhawks improve to 8-4 on the season with a 2-1 mark in the GSC.
- MC drops to 4-9 with a 1-2 mark in league play.
- The victory for the Orange & Black matches the school record of Gulf South wins in a season (two).
- AUM won the match 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16
- The Warhawks are now 2-1 in four-set matches this season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Pais-Marden tallied a career-high 20 kills in the match. Pais-Marden also had 15 digs, five blocks (one solo), one service ace and an assist.
- Senior middle blocker
Ariadne Borges notched 13 kills for the Warhawks with six blocks (three solo).
- Sophomore setter
Isadora Nicolai recorded 47 assists in directing the AUM offense to a .272 hitting percentage. She also posted 10 digs.
- Senior outside hitter
Sommer Rhea tallied team-high 17 digs for the Orange & Black.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- AUM jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the first set before MC was able to break serve. After a short comeback by the Choctaws the Warhawks an 8-1 run to go up 19-9. MC answered with a 4-1 run of their own but AUM would score six of the next seven points to take the set 25-14.
- The two teams battled out to a 12-12 tie in the second set before a 5-1 run by AUM put the home squad up 17-13. The Choctaws would claw their way back into the frame, fighting back to take a 21-20 lead before a Pais-Marden kill broke the rally at tied the set at 21. After trading a pair of side outs the score was tied at 23-23 before a pair of kills by MC's Kate Bass gave them the set 25-23.
- The third set saw MC take a 6-5 lead before a 7-0 run by the Warhawks gave the home team a 12-6 lead. MC cut the advantage to 12-10 prior to a
Nyah Whittlesey kill sparked a 3-0 Warhawks run. MC would not go down quietly, eventually tying the set at 22-22. Each team forced a side out before a pair of ball-handling errors by the Choctaws gave AUM the set, 25-23.
- The Orange & Black ran out to a 10-1 lead in the fourth set before eventually going up 15-4 on a
Dariona Dash kill. AUM pushed its lead to 19-9 on another Dash kill, but MC would respond with a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to 19-13. The Warhawks tallied two quick points before the Choctaws got one back to push the score to 21-14. Kills by Pais-Marden and Dash got AUM to 23-14 but a MC kill stopped the rally. The Warhawks got to match point at 24-15 on a kill by Borges, eventually winning on a kill by Rhea.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Warhawks notched 57 kills while MC notched 46.
- AUM tallied six service aces while the Choctaws tallied five.
- The Orange & Black hit for a .272 clip while MC hit .151 as a team.
