About the Warhawks
AUM enters their game against West Florida sporting the fifth-best defense in the Gulf South Conference. The Orange & Black have held opponents to just 61.6 points per game. This weekend's slate of games will feature the fifth, sixth and seventh-best defenses in the conference.
Coming off a 28-point outing against Montevallo last week,
Jordan Brewster has moved into first place on the team in scoring, averaging 12.5 points per game. Brewster nailed eight 3-pointers against the Falcons and now leads the GSC in 3-pointers made with 60.
Victoria Morales will look to continue her great season into the meeting with West Florida on Thursday. The senior continues to creep toward her double-double average, grabbing nine rebounds per game and scoring 12.4 points per contest.
Alexia Wallace returned to action against the rival Falcons over the weekend, and she will bring her exceptional ball handling ability to the AUM offense this weekend against the Argon aughts and Lady Blazers. Wallace is averaging 5.9 points per game, 2.8 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game.
About the Argonauts
After coming off a 25-win season last year, the West Florida Argos have netted just five wins in 2019-20 and just one conference victory this season. West Florida's lone GSC victory came on Jan. 11 against the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws.
Danielle Norquest is pacing the Argonauts in scoring so far this season, scoring 14.3 points per game while grabbing 12.2 rebounds. The junior has also forced 30 steals and has swatted four shots this year.
About the Lady Blazers
Valdosta State occupies the No. 5 seed in the Gulf South Conference playoff race with a 5-5 conference mark. The Lady Blazers, however, have dropped three of their last four games to GSC opponents. VSU was able to come away with a victory in their most recent game, taking down Shorter on the road 97-74.
Junior guard Kayla Bonilla ranks at the top of her team in points per game, averaging 19 scores. Her total is also good for third in the GSC in this category, five points shy of first place.
