About the Warhawks
West Alabama was able to sneak away with a six-point victory over the Warhawks in the first game of the new year. However, the Orange & Black rebounded extremely well as the Warhawks took down a Montevallo team that was receiving votes in the latest national polls.
Catlin Carter was nothing short of sensational for the Orange & Black over the weekend, averaging 24.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and three assists in two games for the Warhawks. The junior was a driving force behind AUM's first-ever GSC victory.
Victoria Morales continues to shoot the ball at a high pace as she currently sits 8
th in the conference in FG% with a .478 mark. Those numbers would not have been made possible without netting 28 points and 22 rebounds over her two games this season.
Jemaiya Lee averages the fourth-most minutes on the team and has started all but one game so far this season. The senior averages 7.9 PPG and has grabbed 4.2 rebounds per game which ranks her third behind Morales and
Aaliyah Milord.
With three games this week, the Warhawks will have played five games in nine days this season, though the heavy workload has not seemed to be an issue for the Orange & Black, as they enter their game against the Lady Magicians with a 7-6 record this season.
About the Lady Magicians
Lemoyne-Owen College will enter their game with the Warhawks holding on to a 7-4 record in 2019-20, with a 4-2 record within the SIAC conference. The Lady Magicians have won their last six games with their last loss coming to GSC foe Delta State on December 5.
AUM has a 3-1 record against teams from the SIAC this season, defeating Tuskegee, Clark Atlanta and Miles. However, the Orange & Black have not played a SIAC school since their 52-43 victory over Miles College on November 20.
About the Lady Bulldogs
Union has continued their great history of women's basketball into the 2019-20 season. The Lady Bulldogs sport an 11-3 record this season and are coming off a loss to their GSC rival, #5 Lee 71-67.
Jalencia Williams is the leading force behind the Union offense. She currently ranks fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 18.4 PPG. In her first meeting against the Warhawks, Williams tallied 21 points and five rebounds.
The meeting between the two schools will be the second and final regular season game this season. Union defeated the Warhawks in Montgomery 81-50 on December 16.
About the Hawks
Shorter is 0-10 on the season and has dropped their first five conference games. The Hawks will face Alabama-Huntsville on Thursday before their game with the Warhawks on Saturday at the AUM Gymnasium.
Jasmine Gaines is pacing the Hawks in scoring this season, averaging 19.7 points per game. Her current point total places her in the top-3 in the GSC.
