About the Warhawks
AUM has finally evened out their games played, and games cancelled to begin the season. With the first two games of the Bobcat Classic being rained out, the Warhawks have now had four games cancelled. However, the Orange & Black were still able to win two games against Coker and Georgia College, bringing their overall record to 3-1.
The Warhawks were ready to get back to action against Coker on Sunday, exploding for four runs in the first two innings before being held hitless for the remainder of the game. The Orange & Black more than made up for their lack of offense in game one, with an 11-run effort against the Bobcats.
Alanna Goble was one of the biggest reasons behind the Warhawks' win against Georgia College. The freshman earned Gulf South Conference freshman of the week for her complete game shutout performance where she struck out 11 batters while allowing just three hits.
AUM crept toward and even broke some records at the Bobcat Classic. With
Parker Pinholster's stolen base in the third inning against Georgia College, she became the first player in program history with 100 stolen bases.
Meanwhile, thanks to a hard-hit double in the left center gap, senior
Jaycie Walker tied the all-time record for doubles in her career with 46.
The Warhawks have already cemented themselves as the league's best pitching team this season. AUM has the conference's lowest ERA at 1.17 and have allowed just four earned runs and 10 hits as a team.
