Warhawks Use 11 Different Scorers In 40-Point Drubbing

ROME, Ga. – The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team got offensive contributions from 11 different players in a 91-51 blowout win on the road over Gulf South Conference opponent Shorter on Thursday afternoon.

NOTES
- AUM wins its fourth GSC game of the season while bringing the overall 2019-20 record to 11-12.
- The Warhawks' 91 points is the most in a game since November 1, 2014, a 93-35 win over Florida Memorial College.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Victoria Morales led the Warhawks in scoring, rebounds, steals and blocks. The senior recorded 23 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
- Jordan Brewster (17), Jemaiya Lee (14) and Catlin Carter (13) netted double-digit points in the win.
- Makaylla Bullard led the Orange & Black in helpers, tallying three assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter was the most-contested quarter of the game as both teams would trade points throughout the opening frame. Shorter and AUM traded the first four points of the game before Morales hit her first 3-pointer of the night to give the Orange & Black a 7-4 lead. Two minutes would transpire without a point from either side, but the scoreless drought was put to rest by five-straight points from Shorter to put the Hawks up by two. Two free throws from Morales and a jumper from Sarah Creanor tied the game at 11 with 97 seconds left in the first. A late 3-pointer from Brewster gave the Warhawks a 14-13 lead going into the second quarter.
- The Orange & Black would start to distance themselves from Shorter in the second quarter. However, the Hawks were able to gain the first big advantage in the second, taking five of the first seven points to lead by two. Shorter's final basket of the first half was scored with five minutes remaining in the quarter to bring the AUM lead to 24-22. The Orange & Black received contributions from Lee, Morales and Bullard to finish the second quarter on a 10-0 run and took a 34-22 lead heading into the halftime break.
- Shorter gained the first basket of the third quarter to end the AUM run and brought the game to 34-24. AUM responded immediately with an 8-0 run highlighted by 3-pointers from Brewster and Carter. Bullard joined in on the fun with a 3-pointer of her own with a triple to bring the score to 45-26 in favor of the Orange & Black. Shorter got on the scoreboard in the third period, but it was never enough to put a dent into the AUM lead. Taking the final four points of the third was not enough to get back into the game as the Warhawks led 63-36 going into the fourth.
- Lee, Morales and Alexia Wallace teamed up to get the Warhawks off and rolling in the fourth quarter, registering points to run the score to 70-39. Roni Richardson began her scoring in the fourth with a fastbreak layup in transition. Morales scored the Orange & Black's next six points to push the AUM lead to 38. A Creanor layup and two free throws from Alex Brown helped the Warhawks score the most points in a game since 2014, beating the Hawks 91-41.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- AUM set season-highs in points, field goals made and steals.
- The Warhawks drained nine 3-pointers.
- AUM converted on 10-14 free throws.
- The Orange & Black out-rebounded Shorter 44-21.
