MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team continued its impressive start to the 2020 campaign with two home wins against Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers on Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
- The Warhawks bring their record to 7-1 in 2020.
- The Orange & Black have allowed runs in two games this season.
- With two wins today, AUM clinched its first-official GSC victories.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS GAME 1

Parker Pinholster went 3-3 with two RBI and a stolen base.

Jaycie Walker tattooed a ball over the right field wall for her first home run of the year.

Alanna Goble and
Bailie Barnes allowed two combined hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- After a scoreless first inning from Goble in the circle, AUM wasted no time establishing a lead on the Lady Buccaneers. With two runners on, Walker got a pitch in a favorable spot as the senior blasted the ball over the right field wall and toward the batting cages to propel AUM to an early 3-0 lead.
- The offense wouldn't stop with the Walker home run in the first as Pinholster drove in the Orange & Black's second run of the game with an RBI single up the middle.
- The scoring in the second inning started with an
Olivia Aycock infield RBI single to the right side, bringing home
Morgan Duschell to create a four-run lead over Christian Brothers.
- A few batters later,
Molly Cobb joined in on the fun with a bullet into left field, bringing home Aycock and bringing
Allie Miller into scoring position. The second inning's scoring outburst concluded with Walker's fourth RBI of the game, scoring Miller on a sacrifice fly.
- An RBI single from
Kendall Tucker scored the Orange & Black's eighth run of the game in the third while Miller's run on a wild pitch in the fourth, followed by a Pinholster RBI triple, gave AUM all the runs they would need to beat CBU 10-0.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE GAME 1
- Goble was able to net four strikeouts in four innings of work, while Barnes punched out two batters in a scoreless fifth inning.
- The Warhawks were given five walks in the contest, while only issuing one.
- Seven runners were left stranded between the two teams, with AUM stranding four on base.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS GAME 2
- Tucker notched three more RBI after a three-run triple.
- Walker and
Abby Krueger added multi-hit games.

Chanel Newcomer went six strong innings, striking out eight batters.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- The Warhawks used sloppy Christian Brothers defense in the first to score the game's first run in the opening frame. Walker came to the plate with two outs and Krueger on second base and punched a ball to the third basemen who overthrew first, allowing Krueger to score.

Hannah Dailey tallied her first RBI of the day in the second inning, scoring Tucker from third on an RBI groundout. Moments later, Aycock came to the plate and ripped a ball to the second basemen, beating out the throw and allowing Tucker to score the Warhawks' third run.
- The game was busted wide open in the third inning when Tucker came to the plate with the bases loaded. It was trouble right off the bat as the senior crushed a ball of the right field wall, scoring all three runners and doubling the AUM lead to six.

Morgan Duschell brought home Tucker from third base and the AUM offense was finally answered by two Christian Brothers' runs in the fifth inning to create a 7-2 deficit.

Gracie Harris was called upon to pinch hit with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth and she delivered with a two-run single through the right side to give AUM their eventual 9-2 victory.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE GAME 2
- The Warhawks struck out just two times in game two.
- Christian Brothers were never walked in the second game but surrendered three free passes.
- AUM out-hit CBU 12-6.

The Warhawks will host the final game of the three-game Gulf South Conference series at the AUM Softball Complex tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
