Softball Drops Series Finale To Lady Bucs 2-1

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After clinching the series win with two victories on Saturday, the Auburn University at Montgomery softball team dropped game three to Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers 2-1 on Sunday.

NOTES
- AUM falls to 7-2 in 2020 with a 2-1 GSC record.
- CBU improves to 4-7 and finishes 1-2 after one weekend of GSC play.
- The Warhawks drop their first game of the year when scoring first.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Molly Cobb tallied her first career triple with an RBI in the first.
- Alanna Goble threw 4.2 hitless innings while striking out five.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks, like the first two games of the series, did not waste any time getting the offense going in the first inning of action. Cobb came up to the plate and delivered a bullet into the right center field gap to score Allie Miller and the first run of the game.
- Goble was dominant through the middle innings of game three, mowing down the CBU hitters for the second time in two days. Goble's day ended when she ran into trouble in the fifth inning but was bailed out by a Chanel Newcomer strikeout to strand the bases loaded.
- Newcomer remained in the game in the sixth inning but Christian Brothers was able to make the necessary adjustments to get to the right-handed hurler. After a wild pitch, CBU's Bree Brady singled through the left side to tie the game at one.
- The next batter, Mackenzie Puckett, brought home the eventual winning run with a fly ball into left field that was dropped by Miller, scoring the game's second run.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The Warhawks were not set down on strikes in the contest, while the Lady Bucs struck out nine times.
- The Orange & Black surrendered three free passes, while CBU gave out one walk.
- AUM left seven runners on base, while Christian Brothers left eight on base.

UP NEXT
AUM softball will play their next GSC set against nationally-ranked Valdosta State next weekend at the AUM Softball Complex. First pitch of the series is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22 at noon.
