Men’s Hoops Continues Postseason Push with Pair of Home GSC Games

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team will look to keep their postseason hopes alive with a pair of home Gulf South Conference contests against Christian Brothers on Thursday, Feb. 20 and Delta State on Saturday, Feb. 22.

ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
AUM (13-11, 8-8 GSC) comes into the week winners of their last three games. The Warhawks notched a pair of road wins last week with a 99-91 win at Shorter on Thursday, Feb. 13 and an 80-73 victory at no. 24 Lee on Saturday, Feb. 15.
 
The Warhawks currently find themselves in seventh place in the GSC standings, just two games back of West Florida (10-8) for the sixth-place spot.
 
Senior guard/forward Carlos Bell garnered his second GSC Player of the Week award on Tuesday, Feb. 18 for his efforts in the Warhawks' wins at Shorter and Lee last week. Bell averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds over the two-game stretch, highlighted by a 25-point, 11-rebound game at Shorter. 
 
The Orange and Black currently rank second in the Gulf South Conference in scoring at 78.5 points per game. The Warhawk offense has seen a considerable uptick in production over the month of February, averaging 90 points a game, 47 percent shooting from the floor and 43 percent shooting on three-pointers in four games played this month. 
 
The Warhawks are led on offense by Bell's 15.5 points per game, which also ranks for ninth in the GSC.  Maharrith Jackson (13.5 PPG), Darrion Taylor (13.1 PPG) and Stanley Davis (11.5 PPG) all also are averaging in double figures for AUM. 
 
AUM ranks second in the Gulf South in three-point efficiency at 37 percent. D. Taylor leads the entire league in three-point percentage at 48 percent (56-116), while Davis ranks third at 42 percent (55-129).
 
The Warhawks have climbed all the way to third in the Gulf South in rebounds per game at 37.9, and are one of just three teams in the league to have amassed 900 rebounds on the year (910). Jackson (6.4 RPG), Bell (6.4 RPG) and Aaron Reddick (6.2 RPG) all rank among the top-20 rebounders in the conference. 
 
ABOUT THE BUCCANEERS
Christian Brothers comes into their contest with AUM losers of their last two, including a 76-74 loss at Montevallo their last time out on Saturday, Feb. 15. 
 
The Buccaneers are currently averaging 68.4 points a game on offense while allowing their opponents to score 69.7. Brad Miller leads the Bucs in points per game at 12.3, while Darryl Lewis sits second on the squad at 11.8 points per contest.
 
CBU ranks third in the Gulf South in three-point percentage at 36.8 percent. Miller's 67 threes made ranks fourth in the conference, while his 37-percent three-point efficiency ranks 10th in the GSC.
 
ABOUT THE STATESMEN
Delta State dropped its most recent contest at home to no. 13 ranked Valdosta State 72-67 on Saturday, Feb. 15.
 
The Statesmen offense is currently averaging 70.4 points per game while giving up 76.3 points per contest on the defensive side. Keyshaun Street (14.9 PPG) Airen Brooks (14.6 PPG) and Anderson McCoy (11.7 PPG) are all averaging in double figures in scoring for DSU.
 
Brooks's 10.3 rebounds per game marks for first in the GSC and leads a Statesmen squad averaging 34.3 rebounds per contest.
 
Prior to their matchup with AUM, Delta State will play at in-state rival Mississippi College on Thursday, Feb. 20 in Clinton, Miss.
