Men’s Tennis Shuts Out Shorter in GSC Opener

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  --- The Auburn Montgomery men's tennis team took flight and dominated Shorter University with a strong 7-0 victory on Tuesday, Feb. 25 in their Gulf South Conference opener from the AUM Tennis Complex. 
 
The Warhawks earned wins in all three doubles matchups and all six singles spots to record their first shutout win of the year. 
 
QUOTING THE COACH
"Today we competed very well," Head Coach Yair Banuelos said. "We haven't been able to practice a lot over the last few days because of the weather, so today it came down to finding our rhythm early and we did just that. I'm super pleased to start conference play with a win."

MATCH NOTES
-    AUM improves to 2-1 on the season, and 1-0 in GSC play.
-    Shorter drops to 0-3 on the year, both overall and in conference play.
-    Freshman Jonathan Judy-Hansen earned both his first collegiate single's and double's victory in the win.

-    No. 1 Singles: Muhamad Bedwan defeated Jan Kos 6-0, 6-1
-    No. 2 Singles:  Joao Guariente defeated Jovan Cirkovic 6-2, 6-2 
-    No. 3 Singles: Francisco Jimenez defeated Jean De Lavallade 6-1, 6-1
-    No. 4 Singles:  Nino Portugal defeated Korandevaa Namadevan 6-4. 6-2
-    No. 5 Singles: Giovanni Bellio defeated Oratile Lekoko 6-0, 6-1
 -   No. 6 Singles: Jonathan Judy-Hansen defeated Blakely Bottegal 6-1,6-0
 
 -   No. 1 Doubles: Bedwan and Portugal defeated Kos and Cirkovic 6-0 
-    No. 2 Doubles Jimenez and Guariente defeated Namadevan and De Lavallade 7-5
-    No. 3 Doubles: : Bellio and Garcia defeated Lekok and Bottegal 6-0 
 
ORDER OF FINISH 
- Singles – 3, 1, 2, 6, 5, 4
- Doubles – 3,1, 2

- Men's tennis will travel to Young Harris, Ga. on Saturday to face off against Young Harris College. The match will take place at Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex at 2:30 p.m. (CST).
