Stolen Base Records Fall in Warhawks’ Sweep of Tuskegee

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery softball team defeated regional rival Tuskegee 10-1 and 6-1 at home on Wednesday afternoon marking the third time AUM has defeated the Lady Golden Tigers this season.

NOTES
- AUM wins its 9th and 10th game of the season after taking two games from Tuskegee.
- In game two, the Warhawks stole a single-game record 11 bases.
- The Warhawks improve to 3-0 over Tuskegee with two games left to play.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS GAME 1
- Molly Cobb went 2-3 with two RBIs.
- Cobb also earned her first career win, throwing two scoreless innings in relief.
- Allie Miller tallied an RBI triple in a multi-hit performance.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks were able to capitalize on some lackluster Tuskegee defense to start the first inning. With Olivia Aycock standing on second base, Lauren Haskins laid down a bunt single and, on an attempt to go to second base, the Golden Tigers defense threw the ball away allowing Aycock to score the first run.
- Cobb lifted her first RBI of the game later in the opening inning on a sacrifice fly, scoring Haskins from third base to extend the Warhawks' lead to 2-0.
- The Warhawks had two runners in scoring position and Abby Krueger at the plate. Krueger laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Morgan Duschell from third base, scoring the Warhawks' third run.
- Hannah Dailey came to the plate moments later and executed another squeeze play, scoring Kendall Tucker from third.
- Cobb added on to the AUM lead in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to score Dailey from third, resulting in the Warhawks' fifth run of the game and a 5-0 lead.
- Tuskegee broke up the Warhawks' shutout in the top of the sixth when Makayla Betts laced a single into center field off Chanel Newcomer to score the Lady Golden Tigers' first run of the game.
- Miller got the run right back for AUM in the bottom half of the inning on a ball destined for greatness as she laced her hit over the centerfielder's head, scoring Cobb on an RBI triple.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- Six different players registered a stolen base.
- Miller tallied the team's only extra base hit.
- Both programs stranded eight runners on base.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS GAME TWO
- With four stolen bases, Aycock broke her own single-game record for most steals in a game.
- As a team, the Warhawks stole a school record 11 bases in game two.
- The Warhawks slugged three home runs in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO
- Miller was able to create havoc on the bases once again in the first inning of game two. With Aycock at third, Miller dropped down a bunt that caught the pitcher by surprise, allowing Aycock to score the Orange & Black's first run.
- After Miller scored on a wild pitch, Tucker came to the plate and grounded out to the shortstop, allowing Cobb to score from third base. The RBI capped a three-run first inning for the Warhawks.
- After scoring in the first, Cobb made sure to touch home plate again, as the freshman launched her fourth opposite field home run of the season to put the Warhawks up by four in the third inning.
- Earning another start in game two, Maddie Parks was able to drive home Tucker from second with a rocket through the left side of the infield.
- After thinking that a ball could not be hit harder than Parks' RBI single, Krueger stepped up and launched a ball that did not land until the next inning, scoring three runs and putting the Warhawks up 8-0.
- The AUM scoring would conclude in the following inning when Parks got hold of a ball and tattooed it over the left field wall for her first-career home run.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE GAME 2
- Bailie Barnes and Cydney Sizemore combined to throw all five innings.
- AUM left four runners on while Tuskegee did not strand a runner.
