ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
AUM (10-11, 5-8 GSC) comes into their weekend matchup with the Choctaws sitting a half-game back of Christian Brothers University (6-8 GSC) for the eighth and final postseason spot up for grabs within the GSC standings.
 
The Warhawks dropped a heart-breaking 97-88 double overtime contest at Delta State University their last time out on Saturday, Feb. 1. Maharrith Jackson led the Orange and Black with a 25-point, eight-rebound performance, while Carlos Bell and Stanley Davis each tallied 14 points in the setback.
 
The Warhawks currently rank fourth in the Gulf South in points per game (76.8) and are led by four players averaging in double figures. Bell leads the Warhawks and ranks 12th in the GSC at 15.1 points per game, while Darrion Taylor (13.4 PPG), Jackson (13 PPG) and Davis (11.5 PPG) all also sport a double-digit scoring average. 
 
AUM ranks fourth in the GSC in three-point shooting, with a 36 percent efficiency on threes this year.  D. Taylor's 50 threes made finds him ranked seventh in the league, while Davis's 49 made rank eighth. 
 
D. Taylor holds a 2.2 assists/turnover ratio, a mark that ranks him fourth in the GSC. The senior guard also ranks ninth in the league in total assists with 72.
 
Three Warhawks rank in the top 20 in the conference in rebounding, with Jackson (6.3 RPG) leading the Warhawks and ranking 14th in the GSC, Aaron Reddick (6.2 RPG) ranking 17th and Bell (6.0) ranking 19th.  As a team AUM ranks fifth in the league with a 37.3 rebounds-per-game average.
 
The Warhawks hold an all-time record of 2-2 against Mississippi College, including wins in the last two meetings that took place in Clinton, Miss. AUM used a buzzer-beater layup by Devorious Brown to clinch an 87-85 victory in their most recent win over the Choctaws in 2019.

During halftime of the game on Saturday, the Warhawks will celebrate the eighth birthday of beloved mascot Curtiss the Warhawk with a special recognition. 
 
ABOUT THE CHOCTAWS
Mississippi College is coming off of a 75-68 upset victory over No. 16 Alabama-Huntsville their last time out on Saturday, Feb. 1. 
 
The Choctaws are currently averaging 66.6 points per game on offense, and are allowing their opponents to score 71.9 points per contest.  Winceton Edwards leads MC with a 14.4 point-per-game scoring average, while Winford Ross sits second on the squad at 11.5 points per contest.
 
The Choctaws rank among the top rebounding schools in the GSC, coming in at third overall averaging 37.8 rebounds per game. Zach Jones and Ross both rank in the top 10 in individual rebounding in the conference, with both averaging 7.3 boards per game. 
 
MC leads all GSC teams with 96 total blocks, and a rate of 4.80 blocked shots per game. Ross leads the GSC with 48 blocks and ranks 10th in D-II with a 2.40 blocks-per-game rate.
