About the Warhawks
The Warhawks had its first two games of the year canceled due to inclement weather in the Gulf Shores area, but that did not stop them from taking down Tuskegee in five innings 9-0 and playing the #16 team in the country to a 2-0 loss.

AUM was 7-5 after a loss last season and will look to bounce back in similar fashion after dropping the game to North Georgia. The Orange & Black will be matched up against Georgia College and Coker four times this weekend.

Every active player made an appearance for the Warhawks in the opening tournament, but it was the returners who made an immediate impact on the team with Kendall Tucker netting a 2-3 performance over the weekend with two RBIs.

Sophomore shortstop Olivia Aycock was able to tie the school record for stolen bases in a game with a three-steal performance against regional rival Tuskegee on opening day. Her third stolen base of the day gave Aycock 50 for her career. The Huntsville, native needed just 58 career games to net 50 career stolen bases.

The efforts in the circle by Alanna Goble garnered the attention of both North Georgia and the rest of the Gulf South Conference. The freshman threw 5.1 innings against the #16 Nighthawks, allowing just two hits, one earned run and tallied 10 strikeouts in her collegiate debut.

Hannah Dailey was the first player to go deep for the Orange & Black, launching a two-run home run over the left field fence against Tuskegee in her first game of the year. The homer was Dailey's second of her career.

The Warhawks were dominant in the circle on opening weekend and own the nation's sixth-best earned run average. Goble, Chanel Newcomer, Cydney Sizemore, Bailie Barnes and Molly Cobb surrendered just one earned run over the first two games, resulting in a 0.58 era.

Scouting the competition
Georgia College opened the season at the GSC Kickoff Classic where they faced Gulf South Conference foes Shorter and Montevallo. The Bobcats defeated Shorter 4-3 on opening day, thanks to three runs in the first three innings.

Montevallo, meanwhile, proved to be a much tougher task for the Bobcats. After a 10-run first inning from the Falcons, Montevallo was able to coast to a 10-1 win over Georgia College in five innings. In GC's first two games, their starting pitcher failed to make it out of the first inning on both occasions.

The Coker Cobras went to Due West, S.C. to face off against the Erskine College Flying Fleet. Coker was able to fly by the fleet, allowing just one run over the opening week. Coker defeated Erskine 8-0 and 12-1 to start the year 2-0.
