BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Stanley Davis of the Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team has been named to the 2019-20 Gulf South Conference Winter All-Academic Team, while 16 Warhawks earned 2019-20 GSC Winter Academic Honor Roll honors. It was announced by the conference office on Wednesday (April 1).
Davis (Tallahassee, Fla.) averaged 10.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game for AUM this past season. The junior guard posted 15 double-digit scoring games, while scoring a season-high 21 points on three separate occasions.
Davis shot 38 percent from the three-point line in 2019-20, good enough for second on the team and eighth in the GSC. An art major with a grade point average of 3.55, Davis sank 59 total three's on the season and averaged two treys made per contest.
A total of 16 Warhawks garnered 2019-20 GSC Winter Academic Honor Roll honors. Ten women's basketball players were named to the honor roll, while six men's basketball players were honored.
A total of 354 student-athletes were named to the 2019-20 GSC Winter Academic Honor Roll. The Warhawk's 16 honorees led all schools that do not sponsor an indoor men's and women's track and field program.
A list of all AUM student-athletes named to the honor roll can be found below.
Academic All-GSC Teams are selected by the Gulf South Conference Sports Information Directors (SIDs) and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) in a joint vote. Nominees must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale for their entire academic career and may not be freshmen or first-semester or quarter transfers. The student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the squad. Other factors include leadership, community service and extra-curricular activities. SIDs and FARs are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions normally involved in the playing of that sport. Ties are not broken.
The GSC Winter Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes that participated in men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's indoor track and field, that maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher.
