About the Warhawks
After dropping two of three to Valdosta State, the Warhawks have lost one game in their last five outings, bringing their overall record to 12-5. The Orange & Black have also climbed to fifth in the Gulf South Conference standings after three weekends of conference play.
Freshman utility extraordinaire
Molly Cobb will look to continue her case for Freshman of the Year in the GSC. After her stellar week against Tuskegee and Montevallo. Cobb leads the league in hitting this season, tallying a .537 avg., while slugging five home runs and driving in 18.
Newcomer
Allie Miller has been a staple in the top of the Warhawks lineup all year. The Troy University transfer ranks in the top five in batting with a .429 clip while also stealing 14 bags that places her fifth in the GSC.
As a team, the Orange & Black are getting it done at the plate and on defense. The Warhawks are hitting at a .331 clip and have committed a league-low nine errors in the field. AUM has also been a handful on the bases, stealing 65 bags that rates first in the GSC and third in the nation.
Scouting the competition
The Delta State Lady Statesmen rank toward the bottom in the GSC standings with a 2-7 conference mark. The two wins came against Christian Brothers in a home conference series against the Lady Bucs in late February.
Delta State is led by Taylor Picou who is leading the Lady Statesmen with a .370 avg. She also leads the team in home runs with three, while driving in a team-high seven runs.
