Tennis Topped in Troy Tune-Up

TROY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team dropped a pair of exhibition matches to Division I opponent and regional foe Troy University on Saturday afternoon 7-0 and 5-2 in their lone exhibition matches before the season starts on February 3.

"It felt good to compete again versus a great time like Troy," said head coach Yair Banuelos. "They started playing very good, and we were a little rusty in the first match all around. We definitely played a better second match, winning the doubles point, and were up in many courts in singles. It was a tough day to play two matches, but this match will help us a lot."

The Warhawks dropped the doubles point in the first match against troy with Muhamad Bedwan and David Mulas playing Troy's Christopher Tasker and Andy Romero to a 3-4 deficit before courts two and three were already decided in Troy's favor.

Bedwan played his opponent, Pelayo Antuna, closely in singles action, falling to the Junior 6-7, 2-6. Meanwhile, Giovanni Bellio and Mulas both fell in their first singles match of the year 3-6, 3-6.
