MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team finished out their two-game weekend series with no. 11 ranked Valdosta State with a 99-72 loss to the Blazer on Sunday, Jan. 3.

The loss brings AUM's record to 0-2 through one weekend of action, while Valdosta State improves to 3-0 on the year.

Four different Warhawks scored in double figures on the day, with Jeremiah Bozeman's career-high 15 points marking for the team best. Bozeman also pulled down four rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.

Roderick Smith eclipsed double digits in scoring for the first time in his AUM career, accounting for 11 points and a team-high six rebounds. Maharrith Jackson recorded 12 points and four rebounds, while Ryan Sanders added 10 points and five boards.

For the Blazers, Imoras Agee and Blake Putnam combined for 47 of VSU's 99 points, with Agee tallying 24 points and 11 rebounds.

The first five minutes saw the Blazers go up 10-4, but AUM would come charging back with a quick 6-0 run over the next two minutes to even the game at 10-all at the 13:02 mark.

With the score reading 15-14 in VSU's favor at the 10:59 mark, the Blazers would go on to score 17 unanswered to take a 32-14 lead and additionally score 29 of the game's next 36 points to put them on top 44-21 with 2:29 until halftime.

Valdosta State continued to regularly find the bottom of the net in the second half, shooting 50 percent (18-36) from the floor and extending their lead to as many as 33 points.

AUM was able to tally 45 points in the second half while shooting 44 percent (15-34) from the floor, but it would not be enough to overcome their deficit.

Three-point shooting proved to be pivotal in the contest, with the Blazers shooting 46 percent (13-28) from beyond the arc and the Warhawks just 12 percent on treys (2-17).

Both teams were able to tally 40 points in the paint while AUM shot 69 percent (20-29) from the free throw line, compared to VSU's 58 percent (14-24).

The Warhawks will play their third game in four days when they tip off again on Tuesday, Jan. 5 against the University of West Florida. Game time from Pensacola, Fla. is slated for 6:30 p.m.
