ROME, Ga. – Behind a three-goal performance from
Mayson Jaindl, the Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team cruised their way to a 5-0 Gulf South Conference victory at Shorter University on Friday, Oct. 22.
With the win, AUM improves to 6-6 overall and 4-5 in GSC action.
Jaindl's hat trick marks for the program's first three-goal game since the 2018 season, when Ruby Mendez punched in three scores in a 3-1 home win over Spring Hill College on Sept. 30, 2018. The senior forward's 2021 goal total now sits at a team-high eight.
Jaindl accounted for the Warhawks' first two goals in the contest, with her first coming in minute number 7 and her second coming in minute number 47.
Milian Mollison helped set up Jaindl's second goal for her third assist of 2021.
Michaelyn Manning put the Warhawks up 3-0 in minute number 56 with her second goal of the season, followed by Jaindl's third strike of the contest just 30 seconds later to put AUM up 4-0.
Gaby Walker helped set up goal number four to mark for her second assist of the year.
Sydney Garth tickled the twine one final time for AUM in minute number 63, giving way to the 5-0 score. The goal marked for her fourth of 2021.
AUM tallied a season high in shots taken (20), shots on goal (11), and corner kicks (7) on the night.
In goal,
Karla Gaytan improved to 6-6 while grabbing a pair of saves on the night. The junior keeper picked up her third shutout of the season with the victory.
The women's soccer team will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 22 when they take on #2 Lee University from Cleveland, Tenn. at 12:00 p.m. (CST).
