MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery Women's Soccer Team fought hard but ultimately fell 2-1 to the Lady Blazers of Valdosta State University on Sunday, Oct. 31 in Gulf South Conference action.
The loss drops AUM's record to 6-9 overall and 4-8 in GSC action.
Valdosta State wasted no time in getting on the board early, needing only 37 seconds of game time to take a 1-0 lead that would hold all the way until halftime.
AUM would go on to get the equalizer in minute number 73, when
Mayson Jaindl took advantage of a
Marijn Kissen free kick that clanked off the crossbar and found her foot. The score marked for Jaindl's team-leading ninth of the season.
Valdosta State delivered the eventual game-winner via set piece in the 79th minute via a corner kick.
Sydney Garth and Jaindl both took a pair of shots on the day with each also tallying a shot on goal.
McKenzie Nowin,
Brianna Yurkovich, and Kissen each both added a shot.
In goal,
Rebecca Jamieson (0-1-0) played in 78 of the game's 90 minutes while stoppig three shots.
Karla Gaytan played in the match's first 12 minutes, grabbing a save.
The women's soccer team will return to action on Thursday, Nov. 4 for their final regular-season contest of the season against Montevallo. Kickoff from the AUM Soccer Complex is set for 7:30 p.m.
