Women’s Soccer Topped by West Florida at Home

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 Gulf South Conference decision to the West Florida Argonauts on Friday, Oct. 8 from the AUM Soccer Complex.
 
With the loss, AUM's record falls to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in GSC action.
 
West Florida accounted for their first two goals of the match in minutes 29 and 42 of the first period to hold a 2-0 advantage at the break.
 
The Argos would get their final goal in minute number 54 of the match, giving way for AUM to tally their lone score of the night in minute number 78.
 
Marijn Kissen found the back of the net off of a free kick from Anila Mantello. The score marked for Kissen's second of the season and Mantello's GSC-leading sixth assist in 2021.
 
UWF outshot AUM 15-8 on the night. The Warhawks tallied eight shots on goal while the Argos put up 10.
 
Michaelyn Manning took a team-high three shots on the night for the Orange and Black while Mayson Jaindl and Kissen both registered a pair.
 
In goal, Karla Gaytan grabbed seven saves. The junior keeper's record now sits at 3-5 in 2021.
 
The Warhawks will face a quick turnaround, with a Sunday, Oct. 10 home contest against Spring Hill College up next. Kickoff from the AUM Soccer Complex is set for 1:00 p.m. (CST).
