BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team dropped their lone exhibition game to NCAA DI foe UAB on the road on Monday night 101-70.
The guards for AUM were excellent in the loss to the Blazers, as senior
Jeremiah Bozeman and newcomer
Isaiah Hart combined for 39 points. Hart netted a game-high 21 points while Bozeman netted a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds to pair with his 18 points.
The Warhawks played the Blazers very closely to start the first half and even led the game for the majority of the first period. Despite UAB jumping out to a 5-2 lead early, AUM rebounded by taking a 10-9 lead at the first media timeout.
Scoring was limited after the first media timeout, as AUM and UAB struggled to gain momentum offensively. UAB did however, managed to tie the game at 15. Bozeman, Hart, and
Roderick Smith combined for all 15 points at that point in the game.
Almost five minutes passed before either side scored a basket after the second media timeout. Scoring did, however, pick up to end the half as UAB was able to claim a six-point lead at the break, leading AUM 34-29.
The second half was virtually dominated by UAB as they quickly extended their grip on the Warhawks to begin the second period, leading 49-33 at the first media break of the second. The Blazers carried their momentum to the end of the game as they cruised through the
AUM defense to take a 101-70 victory over the Orange & Black.
AUM played the Blazers closest in the paint, as 30 of AUM's 70 points came from inside, while UAB was able to convert 32 of their points in close.
AUM will open up their regular season schedule on November 12, when they travel to Winter Park, Florida, to face Florida Tech at 1 p.m.
