DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Auburn Montgomery Men's Basketball Team fought hard but ultimately fell 84-72 to the #11 Eagles of Embry-Riddle on Saturday, Nov. 20 in their second and final game of the Bahama House Shootout.
With the loss, AUM's record drops to 1-3 on the season.
Jeremiah Bozeman,
Isaiah Hart, and
Roderick Smith combined to scored 51 points for AUM in the loss, with 17 points each. Hart, whose point total marked for a career-high at AUM, also dished out an AUM career-best eight assists.
Jeremiah Bozeman led the Warhawks in rebounding for the fourth-straight contest, finishing with seven.
James Graham also logged double-digit points with a 14-point, seven rebound performance.
AUM jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the game's first five minutes, but the Eagles would come charging back with a 15-8 run to the tie game at 15-all with 9:12 to play in the first.
From there, Embry-Riddle would go on an 11-4 run to take a 26-19 lead at the 4:58 mark and outscore AUM 13-10 over the final five minutes to lead 39-29 at the break.
The Eagles lead over AUM fluctuated between single and double digits in the second half until the 7:50 mark, when a three-ball by Bozeman cut AUM's deficit to just three points at 64-61.
The Warhawks got to within one point of Embry-Riddle after a fast-break layup from Hart at the 3:42 mark to make it 71-70, but the Eagles would keep applying the pressure offensively and increase there lead to two possessions after a three-point play with 41 seconds left to take a 79-74 lead.
The Eagles would go on to add three more points via free throw to give way to the 84-72 final score.
AUM compiled a season-best 47-percent (28-59) field goal efficiency on the night. The Warhawks knocked down 17 of 30 shots in the second half to finish the period at 57 percent.
The Warhawks amassed a season-high 38 points in the paint while additionally shooting 76 percent from the free throw line.
The Warhawks will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 23 when they host North Georgia in their home opener at 7:00 p.m. (CST).
