Men’s Basketball Grinds Out 71-60 Road Win at North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Led by a 25-point performance from senior guard Isaiah Hart, the Auburn Montgomery Men's Basketball Team picked up a 71-60 win at North Georgia on Wednesday, Dec. 8.
 
The win improves AUM's record to 3-6 on the season.
 
Hart's game-high 25 points came on a 7-15 shooting night, highlighted by a 10-10 performance at the free throw line. The Morrow, Ga. native has now scored 20 points or more for AUM in his last four contests.
 
Stanley Davis (12) and Sam Youngblood (10) each accounted for double-digit points, with each knocking down a pair of three-point shots. Davis additionally grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
 
Both teams struggled to put up points out of the gate, with the score reading just 12-7 in favor of North Georgia at the 12:58 mark in the first.
 
AUM would heat up over the next three and a half minutes however and knock down four of its next five field goals as part of a 10-3 run, capped off by a layup from Jeremiah Bozeman to put the Warhawks up 17-15 at the 9:09 mark.
 
After a Hart layup at the 4:24 mark put AUM up 24-23, the Nighthawks would go on to score eight of the first half's final 10 points to take a 31-26 lead into the break.
 
The Nighthawks picked up where they left off to begin the second half, rattling off another 8-2 run to take a 39-28 lead at the 17:53 mark.
 
AUM fought its way back by knocking down five of six shots as part of a 12-7 run from the 16:33 to the 12:05 mark, capped off by a Youngblood layup at the 12:05 mark to trim North Georgia's lead to two at 46-44.
 
The two sides swapped baskets all the way until the 7:39 mark. With the score tied at 55-all, AUM would go on to outscore North Georgia 16-7 over the final seven minutes, getting 10 points from Hart to close out the victory.
 
The Warhawks finished the night shooting 49 percent, going 11-24 in the first half and 15-29 in the second. AUM's defense held North Georgia to just a 35-percent shooting night, including a mark of 9 percent (1-11) on three-point shots.
 
AUM converted on 87 percent of it's free throw attempts, including seven of eight from the charity stripe over the final seven minutes to put the game away.
 
Wednesday's contest featured nine lead changes and six tied scores.
 
The Warhawks will now shift their attention to Gulf South Conference play for the remainder of the season, with a Sunday, Dec. 12 GSC home matchup with Delta State up next. Tip-off from the AUM Gymnasium is set for 5:00 p.m. (CST).
