MONTGOMERY, Ala. –The Auburn Montgomery baseball team clinched a series sweep over Christian Brothers University with a 7-0 shutout victory over the Buccaneers in game three of their Gulf South Conference series on Sunday, Feb. 14.
The win marks for AUM's fourth in a row, bringing their record to 4-2 on the season.
The Warhawks outscored the Bucs 27-7 over the series while batting .309 (32-99) for the weekend and .366 (22-60) with runners on base.
Micah Henderson (2-0) stuck out a career-high nine batters over 6.2 innings of scoreless work en route to his second victory of the season for the Warhawks. The senior righty gave up just two hits on 89 pitches.
Landon Pritchett led AUM at the dish with a two-hit, three-RBI performance.
Jackson Ceman added two runs, two hits, and two RBI's while
Casey Henderson also tallied a pair of hits and RBIs.
Quinterrious Arrington added a pair of runs scored with a stolen base.
Corey Armstrong also knocked two base hits on the afternoon while
Joseph Hartsfield slugged the Warhawk's lone double.
AUM tallied the first run of the game in inning number one, when Pritchett drove in Arrington on an RBI groundout to second to put AUM on top 1-0. Arrington reached base via walk to start the game, and was brought to third by a Henderson groundout to second after Arrington stole second.
The Warhawks were able to log three more runs in the fifth, with RBI knocks coming from Ceman, C. Henderson, and Pritchett.
AUM would then add on three more runs their next time up in the sixth on three hits. Ceman, Pritchett, and Henderson once again provided the RBI knocks in the frame.
Logan Coleman and
Will Collins combined to toss the final 2.1 innings of scoreless relief to seal the deal, with Coleman striking out three of the four batters he faced.
The baseball team will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 19 in game one of their GSC weekend series at Valdosta State. First pitch from Valdosta, Ga. is set for 4:00 p.m. (CST).
