Men’s Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw at Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team battled their way to a 0-0 draw against Lee University on Sunday, Feb. 21.

The draw brings AUM's record to 1-0-1 in the Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series.

The Warhawks outshot the Flames 25-4 in the contest with four players tallying four or more shots each. Renan Diniz took a game-high four shots, with two on frame.

Elijah Saint-Marc, Phillip Spickenbaum, and Glenn Waters each took four shots with Saint-Marc tallying a pair of shots on goal. Nathaniel Grant added three shots with one on frame, while Eric Besse took two shots with one on goal.

The Warhawks fired off six shots in the first half, 10 in the second, five in the first overtime period and four in the second.

Alexander Kraus (1-0-1) notched his first shutout of the 2021 campaign in goal for the Warhawks.

"Today was another very tough game away from home," Head Coach Matthew Thorne said. "The fact that we've been able to come away with four points in two away GSC contests to start the season is a positive, though. We're obviously disappointed that we didn't get the result we wanted, but we did keep a clean sheet and had some very good individual performances from the lads. We'll focus on recovery now and prepare ourselves for next week."

The men's soccer team will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 27 when they host West Florida at 3:00 p.m. from the AUM Soccer Complex.
