CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team fell 3-1 to the Lady Flames of Lee University on Sunday, Feb. 21.
With the loss, the Warhawks' record in the 2021 Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series drops to 0-2.
Milian Mollison scored the Warhawks' lone goal in the game, with
Jennifer Beharie providing the assist. The goal marked for Mollison's first of the season, and fourth of her AUM career.
Beharie and
Julia Pack both took a team-high two shots on the afternoon, with
Ariel Jones adding a shot on goal.
In goal,
Rebecca Jamieson (0-2) grabbed three saves in 90 minutes of work.
The Lady Flames logged their first goal of the game in the 7th minute.
AUM would follow up by firing off four shots over the first half. The Warhawks got their best shot at a score in the 32nd minute, when a Beharie shot from inside the box was turned away by the Lee keeper.
The Warhawks opened up half number two by taking the first three shots.
Allison McCrimon (51') and Pack (48') both had their attempts blocked while Beharie's strike in the 49th minute missed high.
Lee notched their second goal of the game in the 58th minute to go up 2-0. The Flames would tack on their third and final score in the 87th minute, prior to Mollison's goal in the 89th.
The Warhawks took five corner kicks in the contest, while holding the Lady Flames to just two. Lee edged AUM with 12 total shots on the day, compared to nine from the Warhawks.
The women's soccer team will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Shorter University. Kickoff from Rome, Ga. is set for 4:00 p.m. (CST).
