ROME, Ga. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team picked up the program's first win under Head Coach
Julianne Herrity with their 1-0 shutout victory at Shorter University on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The win improves AUM's record in the Gulf South Conference Spring Championship Series to 1-2.
Julia Simoes punched in the game's lone goal. The junior forward additionally tallied a game-high three shots for the Warhawks.
Milian Mollison registered an assist on Simoes's goal, while also taking three shots with one on frame.
Anila Mantello logged three shots with one on frame while
Mayson Jaindl took two shots and added a shot on goal.
In goal,
Rebecca Jamieson (1-3) logged her first career shutout. The sophomore keeper grabbed a pair of saves en route to the win.
Simoes's game-winning strike that was help set up by Mollison came in minute number 11 of the contest, proving to be enough to guide the Warhawks the rest of the way for the victory.
AUM outshot Shorter 14-4 on the day, including five shots on goal to the Hawk's two. The Warhawks took five corner kicks while holding Shorter to zero.
The women's soccer team will be back in action on Friday, March 5 when they host Valdosta State. Kickoff from the AUM Soccer Complex is set for 5:00 p.m.
