MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Despite a doubles win from
Sofia Mustre and
Julia Enderink, the Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis team fell to No. 5 Columbus State 7-0 at home on Sunday afternoon.
AUM drops their second straight to begin the season, while Columbus State evens their 2021 record at 1-1 after the victory.
"Today, we fought well but came up short," said head coach
Yair Banuelos. "Overall, we played better than the previous singles matches, but again, it comes down to how we handle crucial situations. We are putting up a good fight, but we need to close on important opportunities. This next match will help us next week where we have three matches."
The Warhawks were able to hang with the Cougars in doubles play, although Mustre and Enderink were the only doubles pairing who emerged victorious for AUM.
