MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team fell in the season finale to Gulf South Conference foe Lee Lady Flames 86-56 at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Warhawks finish the year with a 2-13 record while Lee finishes their 2021 campaign with a 13-6 record and a berth to the GSC tournament as the third seed out of the east.
"I really want to thank the seniors that will be leaving the program," said head coach
Sean Page. "KK Bullard, Lexi Wallace and
Jessika Milton for all of their hard work and commitment to the program and AUM and wish them all the best in the future."
The Warhawks were able to hang with the Lady Flames in the early portion of the first quarter, but Lee continued to burn the AUM defense and would race out to a 9-3 lead. More of the same followed in the minutes to come for Lee as the Lady Flames would take a 28-14 lead going into the second period.
Alexia Wallace nailed a 3-pointer to open the second quarter to bring the Lee lead to 11 but the Lady Flames continued their hot shooting this weekend and ended the first half on a 21-9 run to take a 49-26 lead at halftime.
The Warhawks would net just four points in the first five minutes of action in the third quarter, allowing Lee to take a 22-point lead over AUM. The Orange & Black were unable to rebound at the end of the third quarter and the fourth, as Lee would take the contest 86-56
The Warhawks are graduating
Makaylla Bullard, Wallace, and Milton this season and they will look to bring back the majority of their 2020-21 roster for the 2021-22 season.
