MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Despite taking an early advantage with a victory in doubles, the 23
rd-ranked Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team fell 4-1 to top-seeded Valdosta State in the Gulf South Conference tournament.
The Warhawks leave the Gulf South tournament with a 1-1 record after a 4-3 win over West Alabama and a loss to Valdosta State.
AUM took care of doubles to begin the game against the Blazers. Wins in the second and third courts gave the Warhawks an early advantage.
Muhamad Bedwan and
Francisco Jimenez secured the point with a 6-3 win.
The Warhawks struggled to keep their momentum after taking the doubles point. AUM dropped the first four singles contests, ultimately eliminating them from postseason contention.

The Warhawks will await the announcement of the NCAA tournament field to determine whether or not their season is over. AUM was under consideration for a tournament berth last week.
