Baseball Topped by Columbus State in Home Finale

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery baseball team dropped their final home contest of the 2021 season 16-5 to the Cougars of Columbus State University on Tuesday, April 27 from Q.V. Lowe Field.

With the loss, AUM's record now sits at 17-19 overall while Columbus State improves to 24-11.

Mario Galloway led AUM at the dish with a three-hit day. The sophomore outfielder also accounted for a run scored and an RBI.

Casey Henderson logged his team-best 20th multi-hit game in the contest, going 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Zach Feaster drove in a pair of runs with a hit and a run scored while Landon Pritchett accounted for one run on one hit with one RBI and Joseph Hartsfield added a pair of hits.

Five different Warhawks toed the rubber on Tuesday, with Tommy Vickers tossing a game-high 2.2 innings of relief out of the AUM bullpen. The freshman lefty gave up just three hits and struck out a team-best three.

Tyler Britton (0-2) took the loss on the mound, allowing five earned runs over 1.1 innings of action. Starter Jax Morris tallied the first two innings on the mound in the game while Shelton Clevenger and Will Collins also saw action out of the bullpen.

AUM drew first blood in the contest by throwing up a four-spot in inning number one. Landon Pritchett brought home the game's first run with an RBI double to left, followed by a two-RBI single from Feaster and an RBI knock from Galloway to account for the inning's damage.

The Cougars answered their next time up in the top of the second, however, with four runs to even the game. Back-to-back home runs, followed by an RBI single and an RBI double paved the way for CSU in the frame.

The Cougars would go on to score 11 more runs over their next two at-bats, with three runs on a three-RBI double in the third and an eight-run fourth to break the game open and take a 15-4 lead.

AUM responded in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI knock from C. Henderson to make it 15-5, but CSU would deliver the game's final blow in the sixth on an RBI sac fly to give way to 16-5 run-rule win in seven innings.

The Warhawks will play game one of their final Gulf South Conference series of the regular season on Friday, April 30 at the University of West Alabama. First pitch from Livingston, Ala. is set for 6:00 p.m.
