Baseball Falls to #10 Flames in Opening Round of GSC Tournament

OXFORD, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery baseball team fell 8-3 to no. 10 ranked and top-seeded Lee University in the opening round of the Gulf South Conference Postseason Tournament on Friday, May 7 from Choccolocco Park. 
 
The loss in their GSC postseason debut drops AUM's record drops to 18-22 while Lee Improves to 33-7.
 
Jackson Ceman led AUM offensively with three hits on the day. The freshman outfielder also accounted for a run scored. 
 
Zach Feaster, Quinterrious Arrington, and Casey Henderson all knocked an extra-base hit for AUM, with C. Henderson slugging a two-RBI triple in the eighth and Arrington and Feaster both socking a double. Feaster additionally added a pair of hits.
 
Hunter Viets (3-8) took the loss for AUM on the mound. Viets surrendered four earned over 5.1 innings of work while striking out three and walking none.
 
Sam Steigert and Jax Morris both tossed a scoreless inning of relief for the Warhawks in the contest.
 
Lee notched their first two runs of the game in the second inning. The Flames put the first four base runners on in the frame and took advantage of an RBI single and a sac fly to account for the damage. 
 
The 2-0 Lee advantage would hold all the way until the fifth inning, when the Flames would add a pair on a two-out, two-run homer to go up 4-0.
 
After seeing the Flames add a trio of runs in the bottom of the seventh, AUM would finally crack the scoreboard in the top of the eighth with three runs on three hits.  A pair of one-out hits from Ceman and Arrington set the stage for C. Henderson's two RBI triple, followed by an RBI groundout from Landon Pritchett to make the score 7-3.
 
The Flames would tack on an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth via an RBI double, giving way to the 8-3 final score. 
 
The Warhawks will be back in action on Saturday, May 8 in an elimination contest against the loser of the Delta State vs. Valdosta State game. First pitch from Choccolocco Park is tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
