Men’s Hoops Held in Check by Christian Brothers, 54-47

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery Men's Basketball Team was held to a season-low 47 points in its 54-47 setback to Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers on Thursday, Jan. 27 from the AUM Gymnasium to drop to 7-12 overall and 4-7 in GSC play.

Jeremiah Bozeman led AUM with 11 points on the night, to go along with four rebounds and three steals. Isaiah Hart also finished in double figures with 10 points, three assists and five rebounds.

James Graham, Roderick Smith, and Deven Tucker all also posted a team-high five rebounds in the loss. Graham and Smith each added eight points while Tucker tallied six.

Defense prevailed early on, with the score reading 10-all at the game's second media timeout at the 11:34 mark. AUM eventually picked up the pace on offense, however, outscoring CBU 16-8 over the final 11 minutes of the first. The Warhawks sank six of 14 shots over that time span, with Hart and Smith each contributing for six points during that stretch.

The Warhawks outscored the Bucs 9-5 over the second half's first two minutes, with a Bozeman trey at the 17:10 mark putting AUM up 35-23.

The Bucs turned up the pressure on AUM on both sides of the ball over the next eight minutes, however, rattling off a 23-4 run to take a 46-39 lead at the 8:53 mark. CBU shot 10-15 over that span while holding AUM to just 2-7 and forcing five turnovers.

The Warhawks kept fighting, however, and battled back to make it just a 47-45 CBU lead after a pair of free throws from Hart at the 4:48 mark. The Bucs eventually pulled away by scoring seven of the game's final nine points and forcing four more AUM turnovers in the final three minutes to see a 54-47 final score.

AUM finished the night at 40 percent (18-44) from the floor while CBU shot 37 percent (23-61). The Warhawks relied on low-post points for the majority of the night, scoring 30 of their 47 points in the paint.

Thursday's game featured five lead changes and six tied scores.

The Warhawks face a quick turnaround, with a Saturday, Jan. 29 home contest against Union at 4:00 p.m. up next.
