HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The 24th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers used a 20-7 run late in the second half to turn away the Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team in the Gulf South Conference opener for both squads.
The Warhawks got a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double from Jalen Gaston, and Travis Anderson led the way for AUM scoring the ball with 18 points.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Jalen Gaston and Travis Anderson each drilled three-pointers to give AUM an early 6-2 advantage.
- The 24th-ranked Chargers responded with a Chaney Johnson three-pointer to steal the lead back 8-6 in a back-and-forth first half.
- Both teams fell in love with the three-point shot early, as the two squads combined to attempt 19 triples up to the under-12 media timeout.
- The lead changed hands 10 times in the opening half of action and the score was tied seven times.
- At the 14:51 mark of the second half, a Strahinja Ivic three-pointer gave AUM a 50-45 lead.
- An 8-0 run, including a three-pointer and a layup by Luke Burnett, saw the Chargers sprint to a 57-50 lead they did not relinquish the rest of the game.
- Anderson knocked down a pair of three-point baskets and Roderick Smith banked in a layup to help pull AUM back within one possession, 59-58, with 9:24 left, but UAH had the answer.
- UAH used a 20-7 run to the 3:06 mark of the second half to put the game in the win column for the home-standing Chargers.
NOTABLES
- Gaston tallied his first double-double of the season, and also contributed four assists and two steals.
- Anderson had 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including going 4-for-6 from three-point territory.
- Graham added 11 points and seven rebounds in 19 minutes of action.
- The Chargers hit seven second-half three-pointers after knocking down only two in the first half. AUM hit six first-half three-pointers and just four in the second half.
- AUM had 14 turnovers to just seven from UAH, and out-rebounded their third straight opponent (45-38) to open the campaign.
- Chaney Johnson led all scorers with 25 points and nine rebounds.
