JACKSONVILLE, Ala. -- Some hot-shooting torched the nets at Pete Mathews Coliseum on Thursday night as the Jacksonville State University Gamecocks secured a 101-93 exhibition win over Auburn University at Montgomery.
Roderick Smith led the Warhawks with 21 points, while Skyelar Potter scored 42 points to lead the way for the Gamecocks. Jalen Gaston (20), James Graham (16), and Tyler Anderson (11) also each scored in double-figures for AUM.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Warhawks pushed out to a 25-19 lead on a Strahinja Ivic three-pointer with 10:26 to play in the first half.
- A five-point burst from Potter helped tie the game at 27-27 at the first-half under-eight media timeout.
- Two Gilbert Croley free throws out of the under-four media timeout tied the score 35-35, but Potter drained three triples to help JSU to a 48-43 halftime lead.
- A three-point jumper by Anderson tied the game 61-61 with 14:25 remaining.
- The Gamecocks got hot and used a 14-2 run to build its largest lead of 12 points with 10:30 to play.
- AUM responded to trim the game back to a two-possession game, 84-78, on an Anderson three-pointer, but six more points from Potter at the free throw line helped JSU balloon its largest lead of the night to 15 points (95-80) with 3:12 left in the game.
- The Warhawks found a couple of late runs to pull with seven points in the game's closing minutes, but the Gamecocks hit five late free throws to ice the game.

- Gaston had 20 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 35 minutes of action.
- Roderick Smith went 9-for-14 from the field.
- The Warhawks shot 53 percent from the floor (36-of-68), while the Gamecocks shot 51 percent (28-of-55).
- The two teams combined to make 24 three-pointers, as AUM shot 44 percent from downtown, while JSU hit 47 percent of its three-pointers.
- AUM and JSU combined to shoot 88 percent from the free-throw line in the contest. The Warhawks were 11-of-11, while the Gamecocks went 31-of-37.
