Anderson's Late Three-Pointer Helps Lift Men's Basketball Past Mississippi College

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Travis Anderson scored 32 points and hit a 30-plus foot three-point shot with 3.5 seconds remaining in regulation as the Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team earned a 79-74 win over Mississippi College.

Anderson went 8-for-17 from the floor and 4-for-9 from three-point territory. He also went 12-for-13 at the foul line, pulled down six rebounds, and totaled two assists while playing all 40 minutes of the game.

The Warhawks have won a season-high three games after wins over Shorter, Delta State, and Mississippi College.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Choctaws built a 23-17 lead with 9:17 to play in the first half, but the Warhawks found an answer.
  • Helped by two three-pointers and a layup from Anderson, AUM used a 14-2 run to lead 31-25 with 3:37 left in the opening half.
  • MC used another spurt, this one a 14-4 run, to close the first half and take a 39-35 lead into the halftime intermission.
  • The Choctaws built two different eight-point leads early in the second half, but AUM was able to fight back.
  • Both sides traded buckets before two Miles Miller free throws and a Paul Smith layup gave MC a 74-70 advantage with 1:56 left in the game.
  • A James Graham offensive rebound and put-back layup trimmed the lead to two, and a Deven Tucker layup tied the game at 74 with 48 seconds to play.
  • Choctaw forward Justin Reid had his shot blocked by James Graham with 26 seconds left to give the ball back to AUM with a chance to win.
  • Anderson splashed a deep three-pointer from the left wing with 3.5 seconds left to put AUM on top 77-74, and Jalen Gaston swished two free throws to ice the win.

  • Anderson posted a new season-high with 32 points, besting his previous best of 26 against Shorter.
  • The Warhawks won the rebounding battle 35-28. That edge made it six times this season AUM has out-rebounded its opponent.
  • MC bested AUM in the paint 46-30.
  • The score was tied 12 times and there were 12 lead changes in the game.
  • AUM went 25-of-29 (86 percent) as a team from the free throw line, including 17-of-18 in the second half.
  • Tradavis Thompson had 19 points to lead the Choctaws.
