CLINTON, Miss. – The Auburn Montgomery Men's Basketball Team fell 67-58 to the Choctaws of Mississippi College on Saturday Feb. 20 drop to 10-16 overall and 7-11 in Gulf South Conference action.
Jeremiah Bozeman led AUM with 16 points scored and five rebounds.
Roderick Smith also scored in double figures with a 15-point performance.
James Graham finished just one point shy of a double-double with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Both teams scored eight points over the first two minutes, with the Choctaws rattling off a 14-4 run from there to take a 22-12 lead at the 11:30 mark. The Warhawks eventually fought back to make it a 22-22 contest, with both teams tallying 10 points over the final six minutes to see a halftime score of 32-32.
AUM and MC each scored 14 points over the first seven minutes of the second half to see a score of 46-all. From there, the Choctaws would outscore the Warhawks 12-6 to gain some breathing room with a 58-52 lead.
A pair of free throws from Bozeman at the 3:05 mark cut AUM's deficit to just four points at 58-54, but the Choctaws would finish out the contest with a 9-4 run to give way to the 67-58 final score.
AUM shot 54 percent (13-24) in the first half and 38 percent (8-21) in the second to finish the night at 47 percent (21-45) on all field goals. The Warhawks shot 38 percent (3-8) from three and 77 percent (13-17) from the free throw line.
The Warhawks out-rebounded MC in the contest, 29-25. AUM additionally accounted for 31 bench points, 26 points in the paint, 15 points off of MC turnovers, and 12 fast break points.
Saturday's contest featured eight lead changes and 14 tied scores.
The Warhawks will play their final regular-season road contest on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Shorter University. Start time from Rome, Ga. is set for 6:30 p.m.
