MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Newcomer
Thibault Jacq propelled the 42
nd-ranked Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team to a 4-3 win over Gulf South Conference foe Delta State on Saturday morning.
AUM moves to 8-6 on the year and remains perfect in Gulf South Conference action. Delta State, meanwhile, falls to 5-7 on the season.
The first two doubles courts were split between the two teams, leaving the ultimately important doubles point to be decided in the third flight.
Jonathan Judy-Hansen and
Nino Portugal were able to earn a clutch 7-5 win over the Statesmen to secure the early 1-0 lead for AUM.
Delta State was able to eventually tie the match at 2-2 early in singles play. After
David Rieme fell in singles, the match would be decided in the sixth flight. Newcomer Jacq was able to take a controlling 6-3, 6-2 win to give AUM the victory.

The Warhawks' brief two-match homestand will come to an end as AUM will hit the road to face off against Gulf South Conference foe Lee on Friday, April 1. The match against the Flames is scheduled for 1 p.m.
