#14 Warhawks Tamed By #8 Lions 5-2

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The 14th ranked Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis team saw their three-match winning streak come to a close at the hands of the Saint Leo Lions 5-2 on the road on Friday afternoon.

The Warhawks drop to 5-2 in 2022 with a 1-0 record in Gulf South Conference play, while the Lions remain perfect at 6-0 with a 3-0 mark in Sunshine State play.

The Warhawks were able to gain some momentum early in the match, picking up wins in the first and third doubles courts to take a 1-0 lead. Nahia Izco was able to gain the first singles victory in the fourth singles flight, but the Lions came back to take the remaining singles courts to win the match 5-2.

The Warhawks will remain on the road for their next match and will conclude a brief two-match stretch on the road. AUM will travel to Carrollton, Georgia, to take on Gulf South Conference foe West Georgia on March 9 starting at 1 p.m.
