MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery Baseball Team picked up its third-straight victory with an 8-1 win over Tuskegee University on Wednesday, April 13 to improve to 23-15 on the season.
Brody Syer led AUM at the dish, with a three-hit, two-RBI performance.
Zach Dew also knocked in a pair of runs with a run scored and a base hit.
Joseph Hartsfield registered a team-high two runs scored with one base hit while
Matthew Marfice accounted for a run and a hit and
Micah Christian logged a hit and an RBI.
Jackson Ceman added a pair of runs scored and an RBI.
Michael Myers (2-1) earned the win, giving up no runs on just three hits with three strikeouts over the game's first three innings.
Cole Kehoe (1) picked up his first collegiate save by tossing the game's final four innings. The freshman righty struck out three and surrendered just one hit.
Mason Elmore conceded just one run over the fourth and fifth innings for the Warhawks.
Dew got the Warhawks on the board in the first inning by plating Ceman with an RBI single up the middle. Ceman worked a leadoff walk to begin the frame and stole second to set up Dew with the opportunity.
AUM was able to pile on four runs in the bottom of the second, taking advantage of a pair of RBI walks from Ceman and
Caleb Beaver, along with an RBI fielder's choice from Dew and an RBI single from Syer to right to make it 5-0.
After conceding their lone run to the Golden Tigers in the top of the fifth on an RBI groundout with runners at second and third, the Warhawks responded in the seventh with an RBI knock from Christian down the left-field line that put them back up by five at 6-1. AUM logged its final two runs in the eighth, taking advantage of a wild pitch turned throwing error that brought home a run and another RBI single from Syer to right field.
The Warhawks will be back in action on Friday, April 15 when they take on Valdosta State in game one of their three-game Gulf South Conference series against the Blazers. First pitch from Valdosta, Ga. is set for 4:00 p.m. (CST).
