MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team found some late momentum in the second and third sets against the No. 11 University of West Florida Argonauts, but could not pull off the upset on Saturday afternoon at the AUM Athletics Complex.
UWF took the opening set 25-16, and AUM battled to a pair of close second and third sets before falling 25-22 and 25-23.
Ylenia De Mango led the way for the Warhawks with nine kills, while
Alessia Cappai added eight kills.
Amber Bretwisch contributed 30 assists, and AUM got nine digs each from
Brynne Hopeau-Lampitoc and Cappai.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Argos rattled off six of the match's first eight points and took an 8-5 advantage before AUM used a timeout. UWF responded with three straight kills out of the pause in the action to take an 11-6 lead.
- AUM trimmed the lead to 13-10 after a kill from Kendall McCain, but UWF responded with a 12-6 spurt to close out the first set.
- Three blocks by the Warhawks combined with three second-set service errors from the Argonauts helped the Black and Orange keep the second set close.
- AUM pulled within a point, 22-21 in the second before a pair of kills by Avery Rodgers helped the Argos steal the second set 25-23.
- A back-and-forth effort late in the third set of the match ultimately fell the way of the Argos.
- The Warhawks took a 23-22 lead on a UWF service error before kills from Camila Vazquez and Alex Oliver, and block assists from Oliver and Jenna Zydlo, closed out a 25-23 UWF third-set victory.
STATS OF THE MATCH
- De Mango finished with nine kills on 23 attacks and added seven digs.
- Cappai tallied eight kills and nine digs for the Warhawks.
- UWF had seven blocks to AUM's five, and out-aced AUM 4-2.
