MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team tipped off the inaugural Warhawk Invitational with a 3-0 victory over local foe Tuskegee Thursday evening in its home opener.
 
The Warhawks swept the match behind scores of 25-9, 25-14, and 25-6.
 
Kendall McCain led all players with 13 kills, while Brynne Hopeau-Lampitoc recorded a match-high 13 digs. Savannah Sebek finished with 29 assists and three service aces.

HIGHLIGHTS

• The Warhawks opened the contest with a 10-2 run, behind three kills from McCain. AUM used five straight kills to extend its lead to 19-6, before closing the contest with a 6-3 run to take a 1-0 advantage in the match.
• Kyla Ffrench and Giulia Santuari each posted a pair of kills as the Warhawks scored the first six points of set two. However, the Golden Tigers answered back and pulled to within one point, 8-7, following an ace by Danielle Wilson. Following an attack error by Tuskegee, the Warhawks scored six straight points with Roberta Monticelli serving to extend the lead to 15-7. Ffrench fueled another AUM spurt with a pair of kills to up its lead to 20-10, before consecutive kills by Monticelli closed out the set.
• AUM scored 17 of the first 19 points in the third set and never looked back, as it rolled to a 25-6 win to clinch the match.

STATS OF THE MATCH

• The Warhawks hit .512 as a team, converting 46 kills on 70 swings in the match.
• Ffrench finished with nine kills on 14 attacks.
• Santuari tallied seven kills, hitting .700 for the contest.
• Ylenia De Mango chipped in seven kills, two digs, and a solo block.
• Campbell Gash assisted on 10 points in her collegiate debut.
• McCain added five digs and a service ace in the victory.
• AUM held Tuskegee to just 12 kills and a -.045 hitting percentage for the match.
