West Alabama Sneaks Past Women's Soccer

LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery women's soccer team closed out a four-game road trip with a 2-0 loss to the University of West Alabama in Gulf South Conference action.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Tigers were first on the board with a Sierra O'Grady goal in the 12th minute of the match.
  • Anila Mantello registered an early shot for AUM, but West Alabama goalkeeper Dior Wilson made the save.
  • The best chance for the Warhawks came in the 26th minute when Laia Gonzalez slotted a pass across the box to Sydney Garth, but the AUM shot went just wide as the Tigers averted danger.
  • Just before the halftime intermission, West Alabama delivered a tough blow to the Warhawks. Selis Demirci tucked her third goal of the season under the crossbar to cushion the UWA lead.
  • Ella Moody and Lauren Akemon each put up a second-half shot, but UWA kept the clean sheet.

  • West Alabama totaled 10 shots to just six for AUM, and the shots on goal numbers also favored the Tigers 5-3.
  • Each goalkeeper totaled three saves, and the Warhawks committed 12 fouls to six from UWA.
  • The Tigers improved to 4-0-1 in their last five GSC contests.
FROM THE COACH'S BOX
  • "We had our chances to at least get something from the match today," said head coach Julianne Herrity. "However, once again, we just were not clinical enough. We'll get back to work this week and hopefully improve in those areas moving forward."
