ORLANDO, Fla. - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team dropped both matches on day one of the Sunshine State/Gulf South Conference Crossover in Orlando, Florida against Nova Southeastern University 0-3 and No. 3 Tampa University 3-1 on Friday.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Four early attack errors put the Warhawks in a 9-2 hole, but AUM battled it back to a three-point deficit thanks to kills from Maya Thompson and Myllena Torquetti.
• Leading 13-9, the Sharks used a 12-5 run to close out a first-set win 25-14. 
• Both sides battled back and forth in the second set of the match, as the score was tied on 20 different occasions.
• Nova Southeastern took a 24-23 lead and the Warhawks used a Campbell Gash kill to tie the score again, but NSU found the final two points of the set to take a 29-27 thriller. 
• AUM led 6-4 early in the third set, but the Sharks controlled the later stages of the match to deliver a 25-16 third set.

STATS OF THE MATCH

• Giulia Santuari registered her eighth match of the season with eight or more kills for the Warhawks. 
• AUM also totaled its 11th match this season with double-digit block assists, as Kyla Ffrench led the way with four. Alessia Cappai also contributed three in the match.
• Kaleigh Fitzgerald posted 13 digs, which marked the 19th time in AUM's 23 matches that the libero has put up double-digit digs.

HIGHLIGHTS

• The Spartans jumped out of the gate hitting on all cylinders taking a commanding 10-3 lead and extended it to 15-5. Torquetti, Cappai, and Santuari all had two kills in set one as Tampa won it 25-13. 
• AUM found some momentum in the early stages of set two and took a 9-5 lead after a solo block from Kyla Ffrench. Cappai led a five-point rally to help the Warhawks to take a 18-13 lead and the Spartans battled back to tie the match at 24. A service ace from Amber Bretwisch gave AUM a 26-24 victory in the second set and evened the match at 1-1. 
• Tampa held a 16-14 lead in the third set, and utilized a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 21-14. The Spartans clinched the set on back-to-back attack errors and won it 25-17 and took a 2-1 lead in the match. 
• The fourth set was back-and-forth and neither team could create separation until AUM took a 18-13 lead off a kill from Cappai. The Spartans bounced back with a 5-0 run and tied it up at 18. After exchanging points the score was tied at 22 all. Tampa closed the match with three consecutive points and clinched the match. 

STATS OF THE MATCH

• Cappai posted 11 kills, while Ffrench and Santana had eight. 
• Savannah Sebek dished 15 assists, while Bretwisch had 13. 
• Fitzgerald tallied 16 digs.
