About HAFB

The Heart of Alabama Food Bank (HAFB) was established in 1986 through the efforts of the local United Way Community Council and under the umbrella of the American Red Cross. The organization became a certified affiliate of Feeding America (previously known as America's Second Harvest) in 1989. For 36 years, our mission has been to nourish the hungry, educate and mobilize the community, engage in partnerships that advance self-sufficiency, and gather and distribute food to those in need.
