MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team defeated the University of West Alabama 3-1 on Tuesday night inside the AUM Athletics Complex in a Gulf South Conference matchup.
The Warhawks honored breast cancer survivors prior to the match.

HIGHLIGHTS
- The Tigers took the opening set 25-22, despite the Warhawks taking an early 4-0 lead. West Alabama trimmed away at the AUM lead and used a 6-0 rally to take a 18-17 lead. After trading points, the Warhawks were outscored 7-3 and UWA took the 1-0 lead in the match.
- AUM responded well in the second set and with the score 14-13 in favor of the visitors, AUM jumped to a 19-14 advantage. after a six-point rally from Keren Santana. Kendall McCain posted a kill, and helped AUM take a 23-17 lead and eventually captured the second set and tied the match at 1-1.
- West Alabama rallied in the early stages of set three and took a 7-2 advantage and AUM began to chip away at the lead. A service ace from Greta Corrente made it 13-10, but UWA bounced back and took a 22-14 lead. The Warhawks regrouped and a 9-1 run tied things up at 23. The Warhawks allowed one Tiger point and then scored the final three points of the set after back-to-back kills from Giulia Santuari claimed the set 26-24 and AUM took a 2-1 lead in the match.
- The fourth set was dominated by AUM, as they ran to a 10-3 lead after an attack error on the Tigers. Kyla Ffrench posted a kill to make it 15-5 and eventually Myllena Torquetti tallied a kill to give the Warhawks momentum to finish line. Campbell Gash dished an assist to Ffrench for the kill and the Warhawks claimed the 3-1 victory over the Tigers.
STATS OF THE MATCH
- Santana had a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs.
- Amber Bretwisch also had a double-double with 19 assists and 13 digs.
- Kaleigh Fitzgerald had 12 digs on the night and three service aces.
- Corrente served four aces in the match and had 11 digs.
