CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW: Volleyball Travels to Pensacola For GSC Tournament

PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team is set to compete in the 2023 Gulf South Conference Championships in Pensacola, Florida November 17-19 inside the UWF Field House on the campus of the University of West Florida. 

The Warhawks locked up the No. 3 seed in the bracket and earned a single bye to the quarterfinals, which will be played on Friday at 6:30 p.m. against sixth-seeded Mississippi College. The winner will play against the No. 2 seed The University of Alabama in Huntsville on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 4:30 p.m.  

NCAA South Region Rankings
The Warhawks are among the three teams ranked in the NCAA Division II South Region Rankings prior to the conference tournament. AUM is ranked No. 10, the Chargers are No. 9, and the Argos are ranked No. 7. The top eight teams will earn the opportunity to compete in the NCAA Tournament.

Trio of Warhawks Named All-GSC
AUM's Kaleigh Fitzgerald, Alessia Cappai, and Myllena Torquetti all earned a spot on the All-GSC Team. Fitzgerald and Cappai were tabbed to the first team, while Torquetti was named to the second team.

Fitzgerald Earns Libero of the Year
Fitzgerald took home GSC Libero of the Year honors after averaging 4.07 digs per set and totaling 444 digs in the regular season. She has 57 service aces, which was the most in the GSC regular season of any conference player.

The Front Line
AUM's front line has been dominant this season with 215 total blocks. Torquetti leads AUM with 86 blocks, while Kyla Ffrench has 64. Maya Thompson finished the regular season with 52 and Keren Santana has 48.

The AUM Setters
AUM's Amber Bretwisch and Savannah Sebek have combined for 917 assists this season. Bretwisch leads the Warhawks with 462 and Sebek is at 455. Bretwisch has served 28 aces and Sebek has 26.

Santuari Heating Up
Giulia Santuari has reached double-digit kills in four of the last five games. She tied her season-high of 13 kills against UWF on Nov. 3 in a 3-2 victory. She posted 22 kills last weekend against Christian Brothers University and Union University.
