Volleyball Falls Against UAH In GSC Semifinals

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team was defeated 3-2 on Saturday against The University of Alabama in Huntsville in the Gulf South Conference Semifinals in Pensacola, Florida inside the UWF Field House.

HIGHLIGHTS

AUM jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the opening set after kills from Keren Santana and Alessia Capai. The Warhawks maintained a lead and created more separation off a pair of kills from Cappai and an attack error on the Chargers. The Warhawks captured the set on a ball handling error on UAH.
Set two was controlled by the Chargers after taking an early 7-3 lead. AUM fought back and made it 14-13 after two kills from Myllena Torquetti off assists from Savannah Sebek. The Chargers returned the favor with a run to own a 19-14 lead. AUM could not keep consistent momentum and fell 25-20.
The third set was similar to the first as AUM caught a spark early with a 6-1 lead after a kill from Kyla Ffrench and service ace from Torquetti. The Warhawks held strong and took a 20-10. Maya Thompson posted a kill and Cappai ended the set with a kill to give AUM the 25-16 victory in the set and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Chargers controlled the momentum in set four with a 11-7 lead. They extended the lead to 18-10 and the Warhawks chipped away at the lead, but the Chargers took set four 25-18.
UAH jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the fifth set and AUM cut into the lead off a pair of kills and made it 4-2. The Chargers bounced back and stretched the lead to 13-6. AUM went on a 5-1 run, but the game ended with a UAH kill and they won the match 3-2.
