Joseph Lanzi dropped a season-high 20 points, five Warhawks scored in double figures, and the Auburn University at Montgomery men's basketball team used a stifling defensive attack in the second half to knock off Christian Brothers University on New Year's Eve.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Each team traded runs at the outset of the contest, as CBU led 9-4 before three-point baskets from Joseph Lanzi, Jalil Robinson, and Jalen Gaston gave AUM the 13-11 lead at the 16:19 mark of the first half.
- The visiting Bucs controlled the lead over the next eight minutes, but a Deven Tucker layup put AUM in front 31-30.
- CBU closed the half on a 12-6 run to snag a six-point lead at the halftime intermission.
- Christian Brothers kept the Warhawks at arm's length to begin the second half, as the visitors maintained the lead until a Travis Anderson fast break layup put AUM up 75-73 with 7:56 to go.
- Two Christian Thompson free throws tied the game at 75-75 with just over seven minutes left, but AUM's Lanzi used a layup at the 7:05 mark to give the Warhawks a lead they did not relinquish the rest of the way.
- AUM closed the game on a 14-5 run in the final seven minutes and yielded just 27 second-half points to the Bucs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Both teams combined to shoot 94 percent (34-for-36) from the free-throw line.
- Despite dropping the game, CBU won the rebounding battle 38-32.
- AUM posted its eighth game with double-digit steals, as the Warhawks totaled 10 steals.
- Malachi Rhodes (17), Jalen Gaston (16), Jalil Robinson (12), and Deven Tucker (10) rounded out AUM's double-digit scorers for the night.
- Rhodes posted his sixth-straight game scoring in double figures for the Warhawks, and ninth overall.
- AUM hit a season-high 12 three-pointers on the night.
