Softball Drops Two in Day Two of Panther Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The fourth ranked Auburn University at Montgomery softball team dropped two games on Saturday in the Panther Invitational. The Warhawks took defeats to Embry-Riddle 5-4 and to Florida Tech 3-1.

HIGHLIGHTS (GM 1)
  • Embry-Riddle scored four of their five runs in the top of the first inning. Delaney Morgan hit a single to left field and scored Mahaliyah Sandridge. ERAU's Emma Wood hit a three-run shot to left-center field to put the Eagles up 4-0.  
  • AUM crossed home plate for the first time in the third inning off a single from Molly Cobb. Faith Wheat scored the run to get AUM down 4-1. 
  • In the fifth inning, Chloe Derrick hit a single and scored Chloe Baynes to make it a two-run game. 
  • AUM cut it to a one-run game in the sixth off a single from Chloe Baynes. Olivia Aycock scored an unearned run to make it a 4-3 game. 
  • The Warhawks tied it up in the top of the seventh when Derrick doubled down the left field line and scored Allie Miller. 
  • The Eagles walked it off in the seventh off a fly out to left field and Raissa Bianco tagged up from third base and scored the game winning run. 
ON THE MOUND (GM 1)
  • Avery Dickerson got the start and worked two innings and gave up four runs off three hits. She faced 10 batters and struck one out. 
  • Sydni Free replaced Dickerson in the top of the third and worked the remaining 4.2 innings. She allowed one unearned run on four hits. Free took the loss and moved to 0-2 on the season. 
HIGHLIGHTS (GM 2)
  • AUM scored the first run in game two in the second inning. Faith Wheat had a RBI and scored Gia Martin. Wheat was thrown out at first base. 
  • Florida Tech tied the game up at 2-2 in the bottom of the third off a single from Cheyenne Nelson that scored Mary Polak from second base. 
  • FT took the lead in the bottom of the fourth off a solo shot from Mikayla Lewin. 
  • Jolie Miracle hit a RBI double in the sixth inning to push the Panthers up 3-1 when Celeste Casillas scored. 
  • The Warhawks had a chance in the top of the seventh with Haley Ann Frank and Chloe Baynes on base with two outs. A ground out from Molly Cobb ended the game and the Panthers won 3-1. 
ON THE MOUND (GM 2)
  • Morgan Ferguson worked the full game and allowed three runs on four hits. She struck out two batters and walked one. She moves to 2-2 on the season. 
UP NEXT

The Warhawks will play Rollins College on Sunday, February 12 at 8:30 a.m. in the final day of the Panther Invitational.
